2009 Grad Nation: A Guidebook

Grad Nation is a guidebook for communities that seek to improve their high school graduation and college readiness rates. It  provides detailed information and tools to support reforms and enable effective community action in four key areas:

  • Rallying your community to confront the Dropout Crisis
  • Understanding the Dropout/Graduation Rate Crisis in Your Community
  • Developing Comprehensive Solutions to Crisis
  • Creating the Conditions for Lasting Improvement
The Grad Nation Guidebook is written by Robert Balfanz and Joanna Fox from the Everyone Graduates Center and John Bridgeland and Mary McNaught from Civic Enterprise, and was commissioned by the America’s Promise Alliance for their 50 State, 50 City Dropout Crisis Campaign and Summits. It draws upon the latest research and proven practices to provide practical guidance to communities on the steps they can take to end their dropout crisis and prepare all their students for success in college and careers.

Grad Nation will be updated every twelve months as new insights are gained.
