Tarsha Herelle

Assistant Research Scientist

Tarsha I. Herelle, PhD, is an assistant research scientist with the Everyone Graduates Center at the Center for Social Organization of Schools in the Johns Hopkins University School of Education. Her research explores school belonging and how institutional policies, pedagogical practices, and learning environments shape the experiences of students and educators across educational contexts. Employing a range of qualitative and mixed methods research designs, she explores how institutional and individual conceptualizations of belonging inform student outcomes. Herelle’s collaborations with local and national community-based organizations and state institutions reflect her commitment to using research to inform practice. In addition to publishing white papers and reports for local, state, and national institutions, her research appears in Race, Ethnicity, and Education.
