Zilu Jiang, Ph.D., is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Everyone Graduates Center at the Johns Hopkins University School of Education. She received her Ph.D. in Educational Studies from The Ohio State University. Her research lies at the intersection of educational psychology and learning technologies. She is committed to developing translational research that connects educational theories with practice in K-12 schools. She examines students’ motivation and engagement, technology integration in the classroom, and educational program evaluations. She aims to equip educators with evidence-based strategies for enhancing students’ school involvement and academic achievement.

Her research also delves into the contextual supports affecting the teaching and learning process, both in traditional classroom settings and online learning environments. She adopts a situational and longitudinal lens to understand instructional and socio-environmental affordances that impact motivation, engagement, and learning outcomes. Through her work, she strives to provide valuable insights for educators to optimize the learning experience for all students. She actively drives the development of innovative technology interventions and research methodologies aimed at advancing educational practices. For instance, she pioneers AI chatbot solutions tailored to support student success and develops mobile-based Experience Sampling Methodologies (ESM) studies to examine multifaceted engagements. As a quantitative researcher, she specializes in designing and conducting experimental studies, longitudinal research, and leveraging learning analytics to inform evidence-based practices in education.
