West Baltimore: A Case Study in Unpacking Poverty

These presentations provide a contemporary examination of the particular forces of poverty converging in West Baltimore. Tracing the dots of historical and institutional inequities in housing and education helps to illustrate a human-made environment. And, it’s likely that the constellation of forces characterizing this environment of poverty in West Baltimore is not unique. We end by considering: How many other “Sandtowns” are there in America?
